After 20-odd years of persistence, Ive finally taught myself how to crochet. Im thankful to Childrens Hospices Across Scotland for their Crochet Every Day in November to help me with the motivation and ignore my emotional reactions to making mistakes and not understanding something the first time.
I highly recommend Bella Coco on YouTube and My First Crochet Book by Alison McNicol if youre also struggling with learning how to crochet!
When my kids and I moved just over 3 years ago I made a promise that wed have space for playing and being creative, but due to chronic pain & fatigue, it has taken me longer than I thought it would.
On Saturday I finally achieved my goal of creating space in a communal area for arts & crafts. Im ecstatic and really proud of myself.I wish I couldve gotten better photographs, but its a small room and the natural light has been quite dull & gloomy over the last few days.
However, there is space for my desk, A3 printer/scanner, Cricut, Badge maker and their respective bits & bobs. My only problem now is figuring out what to make first.
Myself, my youngest children and a friend who travelled approximately 400 miles to visit us went paddling in my local park this week where we met an adorable duck who was completely oblivious to our existence.
We also got to see baby fish and tadpoles in the riverbed.
The waterfall was flowing well despite there not being much rain recently. It was a beautiful day, we even had ice cream.
I started college at the beginning of January to study Social Sciences, which means Im learning about history, geography, criminology & psychology.
Its really interesting.
Im receiving support from learning inclusion which has taken a lot of the stress off and Ive been given the loan of a LiveScribe smartpen, its taking some getting used to!However, In my first history class, I took the opportunity to ask the lecturer about where to start looking for Scottish Labour archives from early-mid 20th century as my {maternal} great-uncle Tommy was a trade unionist and prominent member of the Scottish Labour Party.
I think it would be really interesting to see the type of work he did, especially as he died while working in the Cold War-era USSR.
Anyway, I discovered an official record pointing me towards information pertaining to his death which I thought was really cool and has directed me towards a local crematorium.
I wonder how else college will aid my family history research? ^_^
