News & Updates from Barbara Stubbings
I know this is old but does that amazing feeling ever leave you? Back in 2010, I visited Discovery Cove in Orlando, Florida to participate in the 'Trainer for a Day' programme they run.
What an awesome experience!
I spent the day in tears.......of happiness, humbleness and sheer joy that these beautiful creatures allowed me to share their space and more humbling, to touch them and share their play.
I am terrified of deep water and even though I had a flotation device on (stunning!) I was still nervous.
The trainers were wonderful and took me to the deep water, but the minute the dolphins were near me, no fear.
If you look closely at the attached photo you will see the tears but see the joy too. I TOTALLY recommend this experience to anyone!
For those of you that may remember...a while back I sent the view from the window of my craft room.
I also added that unfortunately I had to move away from that view. I mentioned that I would send a photo of my new view. So here it is.
It's hard, but someone has to do it! The units you can see in the foreground are independent living units for us oldies and I have my name down there......it will be a while before a vacancy comes up.
So, until then, I sit and feed my addiction (making cards especially CUP cards) staring at this vies of the Great Western Tiers in Tasmania.
So beautiful! But just recently, there have been bushfires 'in them thar hills' and they suddenly come much closer. The air has been full of the smell of smoke and although we had bucketloads of rain here in Deloraine not a drop landed on the fires.
The BIG danger is passed for the moment but they do smoulder on...... Two totally different designs but so much fun to make. The storm trooper..very topical and the Bathing Belles..maybe equally topical for some of us!
Oh what a shame! I have to make my cards and I have to look out the window at this view! Well someone has to do it.! I live in a little rural town in Tasmania, Australia.
My son and I moved here just over 12 months ago and this little house was just perfect for me.
I sleep in the 2nd bedroom so that the main and therefore bigger bedroom can be taken over by my cards and several other crafts.
It is just so lovely to be doing the things I love to do and looking out at Quamby Bluff.
Unfortunately, I have had to move out of this 'wee hoos' so next time I will show you my view now! I have just become a Silver Crafter and this is one of my latest efforts.
