A Beautiful Christmas Card
Photographs from the Community
I wanted to display both pages together as part of the front of this Christmas card and have the card fit into a regular 15cm square (6” x6”) envelope for posting, so I printed the sheet supplied using white 80gsm copy paper, to measure 17.8 cm x12.7cm.
I needed to then make the main white gloss 120gsm card, which I cut at 28 x 14cm and then scored and folded it.
I used a dark green copy of Christmas lace Effect, cup814313_79993, a background sheet designed by Clare Walker to cut at 13.5cm square and used D.S. tape to attach this to the card front.
I used the gold peel off to attach to all 4 edges of the card front.
I then used an A4 white 120gsm card to cut at 26 x 12.5cm and scored from top to bottom in the landscape position, at 6.5cm, 9.5cm, 13cm, 19.5cm, and then I alternately folded along the scored lines, starting from left to right, mountain fold, valley fold.
I used the same Lace Effect background sheet to cut 3 of the 12 x 6cm strips to attach to the 3 larger panels using red power tape.
I then made 2 white backing sheets in light card cut at 12 x 8cm and defined the edges with a gold metallic pen.
I cut out the 2 main images and defined the edges with the same pen before attaching each of these to a 12 x 8 cm backing sheet.
I added the gold peel off strips to separate the 12 days of Christmas, and attached each one onto a white 12 x 8cm backing sheet.
I then attached these to the larger panels.
I made sure the folds were all firm and flat and then turned this over and keeping it folded and flat and in the landscape position added red power tape vertically, and measuring from the left, on all four outside edges of the largest 12.5 x 6.5cm panel, and at the next 3cm point from this fold, and along the vertical folded edge of the next fold.
The card will lie flat if you match these points. To complete the insert, I have used the lace effect background sheet cut to size, and added a verse from the free verse section from the Christmas collection, and some peel offs as embellishments.
It was well worth the effort in working out how to display this delightful version of the traditional 12 days of Christmas.
I will attempt to show how to do this in more detail, later next week, using photograph of diagrams. Pamela Horton. The whispering Platypus
