Christmas Spider Legend
Here is the story of the Christmas Spider. It is a legend that began in Germany a long time ago.
It tells the story of how the spider wanted a closer look at all the ornaments on the tree, but didn't realize that they were leaving dusty grey spider webs all over the tree.
The Christ Child came to visit later that night, and when He saw the tree He transformed the dusty webs into shimmering, sparkling silver and gold.
The legend tells us that is why we decorate our trees with tinsil to this day.
It has also become a custom to place a spider decoration on the tree. You can make your own, or buy one. Just Google the directions for making beaded spiders.
