This is the second card I have made in a week using Gaye Robinson’s backing sheet. This one is a sympathy background script with delightful soft poppies as the floral colour to enhance the sheet.
I printed the sheet at 9cm x 12.5cm onto 120gsm C B matte white copy paper and enhanced the colours slightly as I printed it.
I then used a fine line permanent pen to outline and draw in the detail of each poppy. I then cut out the 6 major poppies that are grouped together as a bunch, keeping the stems intact.
I used thickened white glue to attach this bunch to a 12cm square 120gsm white backing sheet. I added the sentiment from a previous purchase, backing it with some red card. I then made all the backing sheets which I attached in order of size to the back of the image I had made.
The black backing sheet measures 13cm square, the crushed look red backing sheet measures 14cm square and the white card front measures 15 cm square after I had scored and folded it.
I used very narrow red peel off strips along the outside edges of the main white card topper front and the red backing sheet.
I used a slightly wider red peel off strip for the crushed red backing sheet.
I completed the insert before I attached the bow and the extra flower. To make the insert I printed the sheet provided at the actual size onto regular 80gsm copy paper and cut it to fit the inside of the card.
I looked on the free verses to find the verse I needed and wrote the verse in Italic, Bold, Size 14, Sanvito Pro, which has given the finished card a professional look.
I used the remaining 4 poppies from the original smaller sized copy and placed 3 around the verse and one as a fallen poppy on the card front.
I really like doing step by step and decoupage and this designed backing sheet allowed me to be creative, and use the skills Ilove to do.
Thank you, Gaye, I am sending you a virtual hug. Thank you also to Janyce for the verse I needed. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
