Caroanne Designs has offered this very chic French café scene for purchase with so many extra elements to use, and I was able to use all of them to complete this card.
If, like me, you enjoy the step by step method, you will really love making this design into a card.
I printed the sheet onto CB white matte 120gsm copy paper, keeping the main image at 10.25 x 10.25 cm.
I cut out the main image to use as the main backing sheet, and used a corrugated ivory card to copy the lines on the main element.
I then used D.S. tape to attach all the backing sheets one by one. The first backing sheet is the copied corrugated card and it measures 11.25 cm high x 11cm wide. Before attaching this to the main topper, I attached the red ribbon across the front of this backing sheet leaving the tails loose.
The ivory corrugated card is the next backing sheet which I had cut at 12.5 x 11.75cm. Next is the fine red check patterned backing sheet cut at 13.5 x 12.75cm, and the next is the largest red backing sheet which measures 14.5 x 13.5cm.
I wrapped the ribbon around to the back of the red backing sheet and secured it using D.S. tape.
I made a card from an aged look rose print which I copied onto both sides of a white matte 120gsm card cut at 30cm x 14.5cm, which I then scored and folded before attaching the completed topper using D.S. tape.
I then carefully cut out all the elements using tiny dressmaking pointed scissors and a craft knife for the difficult corners, and attached them by the numbering indicated using thick white glue for the tiny pieces and tiny thin padded D.S. squares Before I attached the rabbit ears tied method bow, I added the peel off strips.
I first attached the silver peel off strips to the outer edge of the red backing sheet. I added fine line red peel off strips to the red check backing sheet and the ivory corrugated backing sheet.
I added a black fancy peel off strip to the copied corrugated backing sheet and finally the main element has the same silver peel off strip as the red backing sheet.
These strips give a more dimensional look to the finished card, as I chose not to use padded D.S. tape except for the small elements.
To complete the insert, I used the same red check backing sheet on the left hand side and attached The insert that was offered by Caroanne that matches this design and 1 of the extra rose sprays that was supplied.
On the right hand side I made a backing sheet using the red check and the copied corrugated backing sheet.
I made a slightly smaller copy of the French lass and used part of this and part of the scenery to keep to the theme.
I drew the 2 cats to add to the chic and cheeky look, and used the extra elements on the back of the card as indicated on the sheet supplied.
I have left the verse section blank for later use but added a sentiment of Merci Beaucoup for the invisible waiter.
This has really made a delightful card, I love the cheeky flirty look on the French lass’s face and the fact that you cannot see the waiter.
Thank you to Caroanne Designs, I am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
