AUTUMN/FALL LEAVES BACKGROUND with Commercial UseCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

Although our seasons are different in the southern hemisphere, this is the season I miss most of all. So this background sheet was a must for me.

I photographed some leaves some time ago, and here they are. I have re photographed them onto good quality card, and added jewels and buttons to high light the Autumn shades. I used the tan coloured buttons to highlight the veins in the brown leaf, then added the sequins golden brown and copper sequns, following the same veins. I used a gold cotton thread, and made sure each sequin was well sewn on sometimes needing to use a back stitch.

With the leaf in the gold and green shades, I sorted the sequins into clear gold, opaque dark and light green, sometimes using two together to achieve the shade I wanted. All very easy.

I used a backing sheet on a deep bronze textured card 15x 8.5cm and backed it with a soft orange toned textured card,15.5 x 9cm.

The card front measures 18x 15cm. I made the 2 backing sheets, one with same soft orange textured card,17 x 14.5cm. I edged this with an orange marker, and attached it to the main backing sheet This is the Autumn Leaves designed by Clare Walker. It measures 16.5 x 13cm, and is also edged with an orange marker. I attached these together with double sided tape. I wrapped the brown ribbon around these and then attached them to the card front with double sided tape. I used padded tape to attach the smaller backing sheets. I used regular tape to attach the plain leaves, and then the padded tape to attach the finished jewelled leaves. I used my computer to print out the label and I then coloured it in. I tied a simple bow with some extra brown ribbon.

For the insert I used the main Autumn leaves background sheet and added a brown leaf which I tied with a bow
