Oriental Blossoms 1 New Shape Book CardCompleted by Gillian Mahoney

I made the card as per instructions(top RHS of photo),putting the insert in before using DST to stick down the "spine" & valley folding to open the card,but,I bought this sheet for my "Grand-daughter" who,at 15yrs old,has recently won an Australian National Award as Young Writer of the Year 2011.I made a miniature book containing the essay & needed a way to display it.With this in mind,I printed the sheet to light-weight card & cut out.I then glued a 2nd enlarged sheet to the inside of the book cover,added the brad & elastic & topped with another piece of card to depict the inside of the book.Then,cutting & shaping a piece of polystyrofoam to fit inside,I cut out a centre piece & used glue-stick to cover with paper.I could now use silicon glue to adhere to the back inside section of the book cover.I glued pink paper to the compartment & used extra printings of the "pages" to add to the edges.I glued a length of ribbon to the LHS(in order to remove the miniature book easily) & then glued the "spine"to the inner section.Done in this way,anything small could be put into the compartment as a keepsake.
