I have used my water colour pencils to colour in this stunningly beautiful image of a humming bird feeding amongst some flowers.
I have chosen orange for the shading of the flowers as I have read that the humming birds are most often attracted to orange and red flowers.
To shade the bird I have used a combination of greens and aqua with a high light of rose pink.
I have used a white A4 gloss card to cut down to measure 15cm square when scored and folded and used a dark aqua permanent pen to define the edges.
I have used an orange 14cm square backing sheet and a water colour style aqua floral 13cm square backing sheet to matt together with D.S. tape.
I have used a silver decorative peel off strip to colour with the aqua pen before attaching it to the orange outside edge and a glitter gold peel off strip to attach to the outside edge of the floral backing sheet.
The 2.5cm wide aqua organza ribbon is attached across 2.5cm up from the lower edge and secured at the back.
The backing sheets are attached to the card front using D.S. tape. I have cut around the main image before attaching it to a black backing sheet with D.S. tape and trimmed around the excess, but still allowing at least 2mm of black exposed.
I have used padded D.S. tape to attach this to the card front. To complete the double insert.
I have used the same aqua floral backing sheet to print onto both sides of white light card and folded it at 14cm in from the left hand edge and cut it down to measure 29 x 15cm before attaching it to the inside of the back cover of the main white card.
I have used a 15 x 14cm piece of the same aqua floral attached onto the left hand open card and attached a miniature print of the finished card front.
I have used a previous purchase of a digital print, cup880670_571, a design by Wendy Rudd to colour orange, and a sentiment with some tiny coloured peel offs to attach on the front of the second insert.
The open section of the second insert has a smaller black and white copy of the main humming bird image on the left hand side and a verse I have written and is now available on the free verse section.
I have finished the card front with a matching aqua ribbon bow, a sentiment, a flower with a jewel and used my gold dust glitter glue to embellish the humming bird and when this was dry added the gold dust to the orange flower centre inside the card.
Thank you Pamela West for offering this amazing image, I love it, and I hope you like what I have made.
