Paisley 2 BirdcageCompleted by Annette Purkis

This will wow your friends!

I printed the box and the cage sheets as the plain sheet and element sheet you may decide not to use. I followed the instructions and cut out all the main box, bird and cage elements. BIRD:You need some invisible thread and a coin for the bird to hang properly and this needs to be done at the bird gluing stage. I did not feel I needed to use the short loop and instead attached the thread to the brad before cage construction and this worked well.

CAGE:I used wet glue for the cage construction and had a practice folding all the cage bars into place before actually holding together with a brad. On the instructions bar number 10 has been missed out and this needs to be folded in after number 7. I added a ribbon for decoration.

BOX: You could use acetate in the hole to make the box sturdier. Before gluing overlap the edge that meets with the hole as an arc of card needs to be cut away where it shows. Then glue. I used a contrasting piece of card in the background and secured a card square in the bottom to provide a firm base. The top section which needs to open I secured with ribbon and made a matching tag.

You could use the cage card as a template and make in any colour you choose - metallic card would look stunning.... off to try it myself!
