The really cute image of these cats sitting in what appears to be such a palatial setting, is perfect for my dearest friends 75th birthday at the end of the month.
I prepared the main card by scoring and folding, Crafty Bob’s 200gsm white card, cut at 21x15cm.
I printed the sheet provided by Nick Bowley, twice onto the same sheet of good quality 120gsm A4 white card and cut out the main element to use as part of the topper.
I made a black backing sheet 14 x 10cm to attach the 13x9.5cm main image onto using D.S. tape. I then used a decorative red peel off strip on the very outside edge of the black backing sheet.
I have used 2 ribbons a soft dusty blue 2.5cm wide satin ribbon and a black grosgrain 1cm wide, both long enough to wrap around horizontally both sheets of the topper, 6cm up from the bottom edge and secure at the back before I attached this to the card front using padded D.S. tape to give more dimension to the finished card..
I used the smaller elements to cut out and glue onto 200gsm blank card using a glue tape roller and then carefully re-cut the elements to attach using the glue tape roller onto the topper to complete the decoupage.
This avoided the use of lots of little D.S. tape squares and spots which often are visible on these smaller elements when the card is completed.
I have used the badge sentiment from the second image of the sheet provided to back with black card and poke a small hole in the top centre to attach a decorative blue split pin and attached it to the card front using padded D.S. tape.
I added the silver numbers and the supplied sentiment as extra embellishments. To complete the insert I have used the image of the 4 cats and the table and the peel off sentiment to attach to the left hand side.
I have printed the verse I have chosen to attach to the right hand side.
This was a delightful image to work with and it has made a, quick and easy, beautiful greeting card. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
