Vintage Floral Art 50 Golden YearsCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus
OccasionPauline Black has offered this design for purchase, and I am ever so pleased with the greeting card I have made today, using this design with the step by step decoupage method.
I printed the sheet twice and used one for the main backing sheet and one for the extra level of decoupage I had decided to use.
I mounted the first main image onto a white card 12.25cm x 9cm and defined the edges of this using a gold metallic pen.
I then used gold peel off strips around the 4 sides before using some glitter gold dust glue to lightly cover the surface of this backing sheet, and allowed it to dry, before attaching it to the deep yellow coloured backing sheet which measures 13.5 x 10cm, using D.S. tape.
I defined the edges of this backing sheet using the gold metallic pen. I then wrapped the wide gold satin and organza ribbon around the topper, 3cm down from the top edge of the yellow backing sheet attaching it firmly to the back of the yellow backing sheet.
The main card is a scalloped edged white 15 x 10.5cm card, which is a purchase from craftsuprint, and I treated the scalloped edges with the gold dust using a fine haired brush, and allowed it to dry before attaching the topper, again using D.S. tape.
I then cut out the main black framed image from the second sheet, keeping the overhanging flowers intact.
I removed the Golden Years sentiment to dust lightly with the gold dust glue, and set this aside to dry while I completed the step by step decoupage using tiny squares and necessary shapes of padded D.S. tape.
The third butterfly I used in the insert, the second extra butterfly I only used the front wings to give more depth to the total image.
The second rose I treated in the same manner, by only using the very inner part of 2 of the roses as the decoupage.
Before attaching the rose sprays, I have used the brush and gold dust glue lightly over the surface and the edges.
I tied an elegant bow with the gold ribbon and used red power tape to attach this to the top front of the completed card front.
To complete the insert I have used the gold sheet from the free vault list from last week, cup322770_1121, Lush card fronts, a design by Cassandra Ridgeway , which is a perfect choice for this insert.
To this I have added the verse I have written, and added to my free verse list, which I have attached onto the right hand side and a golden couple dancing, the 50th.
Congratulations, the butterfly I had reserved to tow the 50 along, and drawn the feelers with my black pen. I then returned to the front and attached the Golden years Sentiment using thickened white glue blobs to help them appear 3 dimensional.
This has indeed turned out to be a beautiful greeting card. Many Thanks to you Pauline, I am sending you a virtual Hug/. Pamela Horton.
