Friendly MouseCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

This design is definitely in the listings of my very cute category of cards I have made. I love the bright eye catching colours, and the cuteness of the characters and the house.

I have continued the theme in the insert and have added my own verse, which you are welcome to use, as I have uploaded it on to the free verses site.

I made 2 copies of the sheet provided. One is onto CB matte white120gsm card and one is onto 80gsm copy paper.

I cut out the main image from the copy paper sheet and used a gold metallic pen to define the edges and mounted it onto a white card, 2mm wider on all 4 sides, which now measures 10.75cm square.

I used a green permanent pen to define the outside edges of this white backing sheet.

I cut out the matte 120gsm copy of the main image and used the same gold pen to define the outside edges of this image and attached it to the card front using padded D.S tape.

I made a pale purple backing sheet which I cut at12cm square, and used a dark purple permanent pen to define the edges of this backing sheet before attaching an apricot ribbon across horizontally at 5.5cm up from the bottom edge of the pale purple backing sheet, using D.S. tape to secure it at the front and the back of this backing sheet.

I made a white card which I cut at 26 x 13cm and used the gold metallic pen to define all the outside edges before scoring and folding it in half.

I used regular D.S. tape to attach the pale purple backing sheet and then the main image.

I used the same apricot ribbon to tie a simple knot and used white glue to attach it to the left hand side.

I cut out the small copies from the CB matte white card and attached these using tiny padded D.S. squares and I used thick white glue to attach the copy paper small elements of the tail and head of the mouse, the door of the toadstool house, and the wing of the blue bird.

I made the insert from white copy paper which I cut at 25 x 12.5cm and on the left hand side I roughly drew a pen and ink tree, grass and the cat and used water colour pencils and permanent pens to colour in the images.

I used the left over piece of the bird to glue in place and attached the birthday sentiment to the bird.

I wrote the verse and cut it out and attached it to the right hand side of the insert.

In adding the backing sheets and ribbon I have kept to the colours featured in minor detail elements of the main image, however it will work just as well using the bright blue or even the green as the larger backing sheet.

It is possible to make this card many times using all of the colour options from the image, and each one will look unique.
