I can imagine this beautiful Christmas robin captured here on a Christmas berry bow surrounded by a background of green lace, chirping his welcome to Christmas.
I have made this beautiful inspiring design into a quick step by step decoupage.
I made the main card by printing on both sides of a white card, the background sheet, which is cup797371, Christmas Berries and Mistletoe, designed by Clare Walker, and then I cut the sheet down to measure 28x15cm and scoring and folding it in half.
I then used a green permanent pen to define all outside edges. I set this aside while I made the topper using 3 backing sheets. The green is cut at 13.75 x 13.5cm and edged with a silver metallic pen.
The red is cut at 13 x 12.5cm and edged with the silver pen. The white is cut at 11.75x11.25cm and edged with a green pen. I made 2 copies of the sheet provided and used one as the main top backing sheet.
I used D.S. tape to attach the main image to the white backing sheet and attached all the backing sheets together using padded D.S strips.
I then used the organza and satin ribbon to attach to the main image, 3.5cm up from the lower edge of the green frame on the main image.
I wrapped this ribbon around this topper and secured it at the back of the green backing sheet.
I attached this completed topper to the card front using D.S. tape. I used the other copy of the main image to cut away the frame and retain it for part of the insert.
I then cut out the robin and more foliage and green background than the smaller element provided. I glued this on carefully.
I then used the first copy of the sheet provided to cut out the smaller element. I was able to piece together parts of this smaller element to make the cutting process much easier. I used padded D.S. tiny squares to complete the decoupage.
To complete the insert, I used the retained green frame which I D.S. taped to the verse I had copied from the free verse friends Christmas list.
And then attached this to the right hand side of the insert and I added some left over border areas from the decoupage.
I used the sentiment provided and the extra bow. I added a peel off sentiment, I coloured green, and the bow.
I then used my pens to high light the chest of the robin and added glitter glue to the robin and the bow.
I tied a simple bow which I had threaded through the ribbon I had attached previously. Isn’t it a very desirable Christmas card to receive? This was very quick and easy and such a delight to look at the finished project. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
