Every now and then a design for a greeting card, simply says, yes, this is the one for that very special friend.
Thank you, Nick, I have printed it 4 times by using 2 sheets of A4 white satin finished 170gsm photo paper.
I have used every scrap of each of the copies to complete the main card and 4 delightful gift cards.
The main card is ivory and cut at 29.5cm x 15cm and I scored and folded it before attaching the topper.
I used one copy of the main image as the main backing sheet and attached the purple ribbon horizontally across the picket fence, 1cm up from the bottom edge.
I attached this firstly to the pale mauve, 13cm backing sheet and then the onto the mauve, delicate pastel coloured spotty backing sheet in mauve, cup986138_21027, cut at 14cm square, which completes the main part of the topper.
I have used a metallic dark mauve permanent pen to define the edges of both backing sheets and secured the ribbon tails at the back before attaching this part of the topper to the prepare ivory card front.
I used one of the other copies of the main image to cut away the picket fence, including the bird and attached it using silicone glue and allowed the glue to dry before attaching the rest of the planned decoupage.
I have cut out most of the elements remaining on the sheets to build up the decoupage on the card front, including both the floral pieces, both the butterflies, part of the trunk and tree with leaves and one of the beautifully designed sentiments.
I attached these elements using silicone glue and some tiny padded D.S. squares. I attached the gold fine line peel off strips to the outer edge of the card and defined the inside frame using the same strips.
I attached the bow as extra embellishments using red power tape.
To complete the insert, I have used the same pale mottled mauve backing sheet to cut to fit the insert.
I have used part of the remaining elements to attach using padded D.S. tape and silicone glue to give extra dimension and used a stitched purple ribbon and bow to help achieve this effect.
I have chosen the verse from the free verse section and outlined this with the same fine line gold peel off strips.
I have been able to make 4 gift cards using the smaller images and some of the extra elements to make each one slightly different.
I have made envelopes for each of the 5 completed items.
I lastly lay the card flat and used mod podge dimensional magic and a tiny soft brush to paint the flowers and the butterflies.
There is very little scrap left in my paper bin. A design I have listed to use for so many occasions. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
