I printed the sheet, provided by Deloris Thiede, twice, as I wanted to use the extra elements as decoupage and embellishments on the card front and in the insert and also to use the Hidden Ribbon, Small Front, Fold Back method of displaying this beautifully thought out design.
This design was the inspiration for making the Hidden Ribbon card and I have then made another card and uploaded a tutorial using this card as the original use of the technique using the measurements for future use.
To start the project, I have used white 200gsm, Crafty Bob matte photo paper, to cut at 14cm x 28cm.
I scored and folded it in half. I have made 2 pink backing sheets.
The first is the insert backing sheet, cut at 14x28cm, the second is the card front backing sheet cut at 14x20cm.
I have folded the insert backing sheet, with the R.S facing in a Valley fold. Before attaching this, I have prepared a slit in the back fold ridge of the white card as a entry position for the 60cm aqua blue 1cm wide ribbon.
I measured down 6.5cm and pierced a hole into the back folded edge of the white card, and made another pierced hole 1cm down from this point.
I opened the card to lie flat R>S facing and using a craft knife made a fine line split between the 2 points.
This slit is then exactly in the central section of the card.
I threaded 30cm (Half) of the ribbon through from the inside of this slit to the front of the card.
I measured and using a pencil drew a line 6.5cm down from the top of the card horizontally across. I attached D.S. tape along the pencil mark, using the top of the line as the guide as this is the height for the top of the ribbon.
I then attached the ribbon across this line, making sure it lined up exactly. I attached D.S. tape to all outside edges and on both sides of the central fold to the back of the pink insert backing sheet and attached it into the card.
This has now hidden the ribbon.
I have used the first copy of the main image to cut out the main image retaining all the elements and the frame.
I have used the second copy to attach using D.S. tape, which measures 18x13cm, as the main backing sheet and attached it to the 14x20cm front backing sheet, using D.S. tape.
I used D.S tape to attach this to the card front, 1cm in from the left hand edge, of the white main card.
I was then able to fold the extra length back in a Valley fold along the edge of the white card.
I attached a white 200gsm 13.75cmx 5.75cm backing sheet to the back of this fold back.
I used the main image to attach to the white stitch edged 11.25cm square pink backing sheet using D.S. tape and attached this to the card front using padded D.S. tape.
I have used gold glitter decorative peel off strips onto all 4 of all the outside edges. To complete the outside of the fold back section, I have used the extra flower pot elements to attach to a white backing sheet and then onto an aqua blue,13x5.5cm, backing sheet.
This finished small topper, I then attached using padded D.S. tape. To complete the insert, I have used a section of the retained frame to attach to the verse I have chosen from the free verse section.
I have also made a sentiment using peel off lettering which fits into the “Just for you frame”.
I love this design and have just the home for it to brighten. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
