Happy New Year, Clare, and I know this is a little premature, but I felt it was a deserving wish, now that I have completed the card from your magical art work. The shimmering of the blues, pinks and purples in the background, with the festive atmosphere of the foreground is a perfect blend. I used matte backing sheets, so as not to detract from the art work. I printed the sheet supplied, twice. One copy onto good quality photo copy paper. This copy I cut out, and used the main element as the main backing shee, and the smaller elements, I used for the insert. The second copy, I printed onto 200gsm white card. I cut out the inner frame, with the balloons, glasses and the sentiment, keeping the balloons intact, by cutting around each of them. This I used as the topper. The main white card, measures 25cm x 12cm. Before I scored and folded this, I coloured the edges with a silver glitter glue pen. The deep rose pink backing sheet , measures 12cm square and I coloured the edges, with a blue, glitter glue pen, and then attached it to the card front with D.S. tape. The next backing sheet is a bluish purple, and measures 11cm square. I coloured the edges of this with the same silver pen, and then attached it to the rose pink backing sheet with Padded D.S. tape. I then used padded D.S tape to attach the main topper. Next I added the decoupage balloons to the front of the smaller topper using tiny padded D.S. squares. I turned this over and added D.S. tape to the outer edges, BUT did not peel off the backing strips to reveal the self- adhesive underneath. I then used curling ribbon to make the decorative spirals. I used 3 x 12cm lengths of 0.5 cm, wide, pink curling ribbon. I cut each strip lengthways to make 3 narrow strips approximately 0.16 cm wide. Accuracy is not the key factor here. I then cut each narrow strip in half, to make 2 x 6cm, narrow strips. I used 2 x 12cm lengths of blue curling ribbon and followed the same procedure. I peeled a section of the backing tape off at a time to attach a curled spiral end to the D.S tape. I added Double Sided padded tape, and then turned this topper over and attached it to the card front. I added some extra strips to balloons as tails as needed, using tiny dots of white glue, and allowing them to dry.
For the insert, I made a pale pink background sheet. To this I attached the frame, and the sentiment. To make the frame, I cut it at, 11.5 x 7cm, and made the hollow in the centre with a craft knife. The sentiment was written, using the word program and various fonts, and I attached this to the back with, D.S tape. I made a spray of silver curling ribbon, and used power tape to attach it, to the back, using the same power tape to attach this completed frame, to the background sheet. I added the balloons and the glasses, and, I attached some peel off party hats, and some strips of pink and gold. This has made a very festive card, for a very festive celebration. Thank you Clare, you deserve an extra big hug.
