Beautiful twilight colours to brighten anyone’s day are the focus of this design by Vicky Sumner.
I printed the sheet twice as I wanted to use one main image as the main backing sheet and the second one to remove the outer twilight shades of red and purple to reveal the central floral and butterfly image as the decoupage addition to the card front.
I cut the main image leaving a narrow white margin and used a pale purple gel pen to define the edge of this before attaching it to the gold swirl backing sheet, cup287672_1571, a design by Debra Laraway, using regular D.S. tape.
I attached a fine gold peel off strip along all 4 edges of this gold backing sheet before attaching it to the 12.5square red backing sheet using padded D.S. tape.
I defined the edges of this red backing sheet with a fine silver peel off strip, I have previously coloured using a permanent purple pen.
I wrapped the purple satin ribbon over the front image 3.5cm up from the lower edge of the red backing sheet and secured it at the back before attaching this topper to the main card front.
The main card is an ivory card 26 x 13.5cm, which I have scored and folded before attaching the topper to the card front using D.S. tape.
Before I attached the decoupage framed flowers and butterfly, I have used my ruler and a glitter gel pen to define the strings hanging down and holding the baubles on the card front.
I used padded D.S. tape to add the decoupage and the sentiment and attached the bow made from the same ribbon.
The card front, and inside edges are all defined with a gold metallic pen.
I used silver glitter glue and a soft small make up sponge to gently stroke the glitter vertically over the card front.
I used the glitter gel pen on the spots on the butterfly.
To complete the insert, I have used the same gold backing sheet, cut to size, and attached the extra butterfly and birthday sentiment to the left hand side of the insert, and attached a verse, from a previous purchase, designed By Brenda Scott, cup816611_9035, to the right hand side of the insert.
The design for the card front has a very universal feminine appeal and I will be able to use it many more times.
Thank you Vicky, I love the colours, the flowers and over all sparkle shimmer effect you have created. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
