I really enjoy using the step by step method of decoupage and this delightful vintage Christmas scene has such universal appeal, I have made 2 Christmas greeting cards from the one purchased sheet.
I printed the sheet twice onto 2 A4 sheets to be sure I had enough of the elements for the complete project.
The first card is made with an acetate snowflake printed window. The main white card is cut at 21x15cm and scored and folded at the 10cm vertical mark, before cutting out the 13 x 8cm window.
I lightly ruled this with a soft lead pencil then used my craft knife and very tiny scissors to complete the window opening.
I attached the 14.75 x 9.5cm snowflake acetate to the card front using 2mm wide red power tape. I then covered this with a gold patterned peel off strip to hide the tape. I have used an internal light weight white card to make the slightly wider 22x15cm insert.
I score and folded this at the 11 cm vertical mark, and used cup277905_359, a design by Carol Clark, Elegant Christmas Greetings, to print the Christmas verse, then cut this down to fit the 21 x 14.75cm space inside the extra insert.
I used D.S. tape to attach the outside back of this extra insert to the inside of the back of the main card.
I cut out one main image with a white border of 0.75 cm all round and attached this onto the insert front page using D.S. tape.
I used a second image to remove the next frame keeping intact the white poinsettias and attached this using padded D.S. tape.
The third image is attached using padded tape and has the next outside edge frame removed but still has the poinsettias intact.
I have used a decorative gold peel off strip on the outside edges and some gold dust glitter on all the outside edges.
This was an extremely simple and easy card to make, it just looks complicated. The next card I made I have used all the elements from the sheet provided as a step by step decoupage, using tiny padded D.S. squares and attached this to a 13 x 9cm white card front.
I have made an apple green backing sheet to attach to the ivory 15x11.5card front and then the topper onto this using D.S. tape.
I have used silver decorative strips as an embellishment on the card front and defined the edges of the ivory card front with a silver metallic pen.
To complete the insert, I have used a free verse from the friends Christmas selection to copy onto white copy paper and attached a vellum print of cup277905_359 as the extra insert.
I have also attached a copy of the main image onto the inside of the left hand side under the vellum insert.
I have made 2 beautiful cards to add to my Christmas collection, both of which I would be proud to display.
