Pansies for thoughts, is a very old saying, but for me it certainly is true. Pansies remind me of my Mother’s love, and my elderly Aunts, and funny as it may seem kitten faces. This design, caught my eye, and I looked up the meaning of odal. It seems to relate to heritage, if that is so, pansies are the perfect accompaniment. I printed the sheet supplied twice, and used the main element, as the main topper, and the other copy, I used for the decoupage, on the card front. This included, the extra bow, the butterfly, the bicycle in the frame, which also meant, I had an extra layer for the decoupage. I cut out all the elements I needed, from the second copy, using very tiny scissors to carefully cut out the pansies, leaves, and flower petals. I used tiny, padded D.S. squares and spots, to complete the decoupage. Using a ruler as a guide, I coloured the edges of the main topper, with a light brown permanent pen. I used a tiny 9cm doily, to attach at the top left with D.S. tape. I made 3 backing sheets. A deep rose pink, which measures, 11cm cm square, a bright apple green which measures, 11.5cm square, and a black which measures, 12cm square. I matted the three backing sheets together, with D.S. tape. I then used padded D.S. tape, to attach these onto the bright blue card front , which measures, 13cm square. I then attached the topper, with the doily, onto this card front. I added a pale gold rhinestone to the bow, and rows of pearls, around the edge pf the rose pink backing sheet. This gave the appearance of more definition and depth to the card front.

For the insert, I have used a pink, white spot backing sheet, and used the butterfly from the first copy and a corner spray, of the pansies, and a blank sentiment. I wrote hello, and added a pearl to complete the sentiment. The right hand side is left blank, as I write to my 100 year old Aunt and Uncle every week, and always use this space to begin writing the letter.
