This decoupage of this sweet little image of a tiny gardener, by Michelle Johnson is a perfect choice for me to make into a card for my young friend who is at last reaching double figures.
I have since added the Number 10 on the front of the completed card.
I printed the sheet provided onto 120gsm white matte CB photo copy paper and cut out all the elements, which I set aside until I prepared the completed card front with the backing sheets.
I used the main image of the card front as the main backing sheet which measures 11.5x 8cm, and attached it to a pale blue with white spot backing sheet cut at 12.5 x 9.5cm.
I used a glitter glue pen and a ruler to highlight the edges of this backing sheet before attaching it using D.S. tape.
I then attached these 2 to a white backing sheet which measures 13.5 x 10.5cm, edging this white backing sheet with the ruler and blue glitter pen.
The last backing sheet is royal blue which measures 14.25 x 11cmand is attached using D.S. tape.
I used a 2.5cm wide white organza and satin silver edged ribbon to attach horizontally across the front of the main image and 2.5cm down from the top edge of the blue backing sheet, and attached to the back of the blue backing sheet.
The main card is a bright blue and is cut at 23 x 14.5cm then scored and folded and attached Using D.S. tape to this completed part of the to I then made a 80gsm photo copy paper from the sheet provided and attached the central image to a 120gsm backing sheet cut at 10m x 6cm and using padded strips of D.S tape attached this to the card front.
I built up the decoupage using the step by step method and tiny squares and strips of thin padded D.S. tape.
I made a bow using the rabbit ears method and attached it at the top of the card.
I used strips of tiny pastel coloured gems to surround the raised section of the main image and attached a ribbon flower.
I made the insert using the same blue with white spot backing sheet cut at 14.25 x 10cm and used the main little girl image from the second copy of the sheet and added using a fine pen her shoes, some pebbles, flowers and grass, and a hand drawn cat.
This I attached to left hand side. I wrote the verse and printed it onto vellum, and attached it to the frame from around the main image off the second copy.
Some of the blue white spot backing sheet and used red power tape to attach the verse. Isn’t it a beautiful card?
I know any young lady would be most delighted to receive. It is also luckily for me a very versatile design suitable for so many occasions including Spring, Easter, Mothers’ Day, Get well, Thinking of you, Special Friend, and so many more.
I love this design, Thank you Michelle, I am sending you a virtual hug. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
