Beautiful dahlias on vintage lace (green)Completed by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

The name beautiful dahlias is exactly what this image portrays in a delightful vintage lace background and with plenty of decoupage pieces to be able to build depth and definition to enhance a card front.

The design lends itself to almost all female occasions and celebrations and also for Easter and Sympathy by using appropriate sentiments and verses.

I have used a 25 cm x 12.25 cm blue card to fold and score as the main card. I have then made the background by attaching an 11 x 11 cm deep green card using padded D.S. tape to a paler 10 cm square card.

I attached the silver decorative peel off strips to both the green and blue backing sheets edges.

I printed the sheet supplied twice onto the one sheet and used one copy of the main image, as the next and main backing sheet, to edge all 4 sides with a bright blue permanent pen before attaching the 9 cm round paper lace doily to the top left hand corner and then onto the blue backing sheet using regular D.S. tape.

Using the blue and green backing sheet card, I cut a strip from the green card at 1 cm x 12 cm and the blue strip at 0.5 cm x 12 cm.

Using a white liquid pen, I made white dots along the blue strip at regular intervals to mimic the look of the colour of the small bow before attaching these together using narrow D.S. tape, and then the pair across the main image ¼ distance up from the bottom edge, securing the ends around to the back of the green backing sheet.

I then attached this backing sheet group to the card front using padded D.S. tape. I used the second copy of the main image to cut out the internal lace image keeping intact the top butterfly.

I used a second 9cm paper lace doily to cover with green vellum cut with the scallop shapes to match the doily, and attached this with D.S. tape to the back of the main vintage lace image.

I used padded D.S. tape to attach this to the completed backing sheets and then used regular D.S. tape to attach this to the card front.

I was then able to use very small padded D.S. squares to attach the decoupage elements from one copy of the sheet.

I added the pale blue pearls, the extra butterfly and the blue and white satin ribbon double bow as extra embellishments to complete this beautiful card front.

To complete the insert, I have used the frame left from the second image another 9 cm doily, the extra decoupage pieces ad a verse written by Brenda Scott, cup 846611_9035, which so aptly suited the intended recipient.
