Emy has designed a Letter J that has so much appeal. The swirls allow a diversity of colours and beads. I have made 2 different cards and have included the photographs.
For the first card, I used a white textured card 13.5 x11cm, to transfer the pricking onto, leaving 1.5cm space at the top of the card and 3cm at the bottom of the white card, to leave space for the sentiment, ribbon, bow, and tiny rose, and leaves. Below is a list of threads and beads that I used. As I didn't have the coloured beads I wanted, I used a permanent marker pen, to colour the beads.
The threads I used were all polyester. I used 2 different shades of green, but, kept within the same tones. I also used a peach coloured polyester thread to work the main long swirl, the round swirl, and the 2 very small swirls.
This is the list of beads I used, and coloured with an orange permanent pen.
7 x gold,0.5cm Rice beads
2 x gold 0.8cm Rice beads
8 x tiny silver Seed beads
2 x Pearl 0.5cm Round beads
The 15 small 0.25cm Round pearl beads I did not colour, but left them as Pearl beads.
I completed all the stitching, before adding and stitching the beads in place. The 2 largest Rice beads with a seed bead each., Starting from the top of the pattern, and placing them in 2nd and 3rd. position. Then completed all the other rice and seed beads, before adding the pearls in the swirl and lastly the Stem of the J with the pearl beads and rice beads as shown.
To complete the card front, I edged the white card with a pale apricot pen, and made a 15 x 12cm, backing sheet using Clare Walker's cup799407_79993, Pink Watercolour Background sheet. A perfect match with the shades of Beads and threads I had chosen. I also made another backing sheet in the same tones, 16cm x 13cm.
I matted these together with double sided tape. The main card is the same Background sheet folded in half to make a card 28cm x 17 cm. Before I attached the topper onto the main card I added the Green ribbon and tiny bow, the larger bow and the sentiment. I made a rose with the same paper and drew the leaves, colouring them to match. I added glitter glue to the rose, to complete the topper.
I used padded tape to attach the topper to the card front.
For the insert, I used the same Backing sheet to give the card an overall continuity.
For the second card, I used the same threads as before , and used the same combination of beads, but used a green pen to colour the beads, and kept the plain pearls for the letter J section only.
For the backing sheet for the pricking I used a white card 14 cm x 12 cm, and printed it with an apricot, cream and lime green, with an all over written sentiment in white, pattern. It was a little hard to see the fine pricking, and sometimes needed to check the correct hole by looking at the back.
I edged this front with a peel of strips which I had coloured with a green permanent, marker pen, Before attaching the green organza, 2cm wide, to the front stitched and beaded, topper. I made a pale green textured backing sheet, 15cm x 13cm, and matted it to the back of the front, with double sided tape, and coloured the peel off strips as before. The next backing is tan and measures, 15.5 x 13.5, I attached this, with padded tape, and wrapped the ribbon around securing it at the back.
I then used padded tape to attach this to the pale peach coloured main card front, 16cm x 14cm. I had already attached the same coloured green peel off strips to the front of the card. I made a small organza bow, added a glitter heart, and coloured a sentiment to match.
For the insert, I used a copy of the same apricot, cream and lime green backing sheet cut to size, and added the hand written name for the recipient inside. Her Birthday is next week, and I know she will be thrilled. Thank You Emy, I really enjoyed making both these cards
