Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
This delightful design of a stitched and beaded card, was an offer on purchase at exactly the right time. I made this for an 18 year old neighbour, and made the ear rings to match.
I printed and then pricked the design onto a white card 13 x 10cm. I completed the stitching first, and for this, I used three different sewing thread colours. The darker aqua is a pure cotton thread, and the lighter shade of aqua, is a polyester, the bright yellow is also a pure cotton thread. I prefer the pure cotton, as it does not split or twist, or fluff like the polyester.
The beads are all in the aqua shades.
I used 7 rice beads, in 6mm size, all in a pale aqua pearl shade.
I used 17 round beads, in 3mm size, in a clear aqua shade.
I used 2 round faceted clear glass beads, 6mm in size.
I also used, 3 tiny 2mm sized, clear tube glass beads, in a pale aqua as well.
Once all the stitching and bead work was all completed, I cut out the decoupage from Craft sheet No. 40, Step by Step, available from the Treasure Chest freebies, and attached it with tiny padded squares. It is unfortunately, slightly covered in the photograph with the ribbon.
I then made the card, starting with the three backing sheets. The largest aqua sheet is 14.5 x 12cm, the pink backing sheet is,
14 x11 cm, and the smaller of the aqua backing sheet is 13 x 10.5 cm.
I attached the largest aqua sheet, to the white card front, which measures 17.5 x 12.5cm with double sided tape. Before attaching the stitched and beaded topper, I first punched out the corners, and I used power tape to attach it to the smaller aqua sheet. To this I then attached the organza deep aqua 2.5cm wide ribbon vertically in the centre of the back of the aqua backing sheet, and used the same power tape to attach it to the pink backing sheet.
I then matted this onto the card front, on top of the larger aqua backing sheet.
I made the bow, and used power tape to attach it to the top of the card.
For the insert, I printed Happy Birthday many times in aqua. I used one of these sentiments for the front of the card and added a peel off 18 sticker, which I had shaded with a permanent pen.
The ear rings are made with the very same type of beads as I used for the topper, except I added a turquoise stone to the mix.
Thank you Emy for this beautiful fortuitously timed, S design. It is simply perfect for what I needed.
