Ed102 Border
Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
I have used this stitching border design as the main feature of the Christmas greeting card I have just completed.
I have copied the design onto good quality white card cut at 13.5x10.5cm.
I have used green polyester thread for the leaf shapes and the largest swirls which now appear as branches for the poinsettia flowers.
The next sized swirls are completed using red polyester thread with the red tube bead representing the flower bud. The next 2 sized swirls are completed using metallic threads of pale green and gold. I completed all the thread stitching before attaching the beads.
To represent the poinsettias I have used red glass tube beads and depending on the position have used a mix of 5mm, 6mm and 7mm beads.
I have then attached a tiny gold glass seed bead to the centre of each flower. The buds at the end of the red stitching are all 5mm red glass tube beads.
I have used 40 red glass tube beads and 6 gold glass seed beads to complete the beading section of the project.
I secured the stitching at the back using magic tape before attaching the topper to the red background snowflake backing sheet cut at 14x11.5cm using red power tape.
The main white card is Crafty Bob matte 200gsm white photo paper cut down to measure 12.5cm in height.
I then scored and folded it before I used a small single hole-punch to make a hole 2mm in from the centre front fold 2.5cm down from the top edge and 2.5cm up from the bottom edge and threaded the red elastic string through securing it, loosely, but with a firm reef knot at the front.
I attached the topper to the card front and added the gold glitter peel off strips, the red decorative peel off strips and the glitter gold holly peel offs before finishing the central image.
The Christmas tree is a clear glitter gold trimmed peel off which I have attached to a green backing and decorated with an extra gold star some tiny green baubles and red trim before attaching it to the topper using padded D.S. squares.
I made the small presents and tree base using small coloured paper pieces and strips and attached them using D.S. tape.
The sentiment is a peel off attached to a red trimmed white small card and attached using padded D.S. squares.
The insert is a backing sheet of Christmas trees and is the same as one of the little presents. I have attached a small image of the card front to the inside of the left hand side and left the right hand side for my special Christmas message.
This has made a very bright and unique Christmas greeting card, with which I enjoyed completing. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
