Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
I was delighted to receive the free Sassy Cheryl Bonus pack 31 with the last purchase I had made and I have used one of these valentine celebration images as the central point for the beautiful frame style stitching pattern by Emy van Schaik.
I printed the flower pot image at 13x 9cm, and centred the image onto 120gsm white matte card before copying the stitching design, making sure the flower pot image was balanced in the centre of the square stitching design.
I trimmed this image down to 13 x 12.5cm before beginning to use embroidery floss to complete the design.
Before attaching the beads, I have used single threads of mustard, light purple and royal blue embroidery floss to complete the swirly lines and dark red to complete the 9 point star shapes, by following the stitching guide supplied with the design.
I have used 28 metallic gold 6mm rice beads to attach using the mustard thread. I have used the same mustard thread to attach the 11 orange glass seed beads.
I did not add the orange glass seed beads to the left hand top corner as they would have been a little too close the blue button flower.
I have also used 2 bright red 6mm metallic rice beads to attach using the red thread. I have used a total of 41 beds to complete the project.
To complete the card I have made a bright orange card cut at 30 x 15cm which I have scored and folded before attaching the 14 x 13.5cm mauve floral and butterfly print, using D.S. tape.
I then used a variety of gold peel off strips to keep within the humorous spirit and to add extra interest before attaching the completed topper using D.S. tape.
I have left a larger space at the bottom edge to make room for the gingham ribbon bow I have attached using D.S. tape.
I completed the insert with a slightly larger image of the flower pot with button flowers and attached it to a 29.5 x 14.75cm dark mauve insert page and attached some flower buttons, and hand drawn grass , stems and leaves onto the left hand side and used a verse from the free verses for friends list by Janyce Cotterill, to print and cut to size and attach on the right hand side.
I like to define the edges of my main image and any backing sheets, and sometimes the insert, the verse page and the actual card edges, using permanent pens, as it gives more definition to the project.
I am so pleased with the result of my day’s entertainment, thank you to Crafty Bob for making this Bonus available and to Emy for such an easy and very useful design which I will be able to use many more times.
