I was pleased to be able to complete this ever so easy stitching pattern and simple bead application, to make this delightful Christmas greeting card to add to my growing stash, so thank you Emy, I love this Christmas round.
I cut my base white card at 13.5cm square and copied the pattern into the centre. I used green polyester thread to complete all the stitching before I attached any of the beads. The beads I have used are 34 red tiny glass beads for the 2 long curves. These glass beads catch the light beautifully and give a dimension to the stitching.
I have sized 4 green glass beads and 4 red glass beads to use on the short curves. For the flowers I have used a total of 15 metallic red 0.5mm rice beads and 7 metallic red tiny round beads.
I also used 2 of these round beads on either end of one of the green tube beads. In total I have used 6 metallic green tube beads.
I used a total of 72 beads to complete this project. To complete the card, I used a red, then a green and then a gold pen to define the lines around the 4 edges of the card before mounting it onto the main card.
I also attached the ribbon across the back of the main card, 3.5cm up from the lower edge. I then used power tape to attach it to the card front.
I used a previous purchase, cup278489_1051, this is a design by Mary Jane Harris, for the main card, printing it on both the outside and inside of the card at full size and then cutting it down to now measure 15cm square.
I also used this as the insert for this card. I then went back to complete the rest of the embellishments for the card front.
I attached the red bow by tying it through the horizontal piece of exposed ribbon on the left hand side I used 3peel off holly leaves to mount onto white card and coloured them with permanent pens using 2 shades of green and one each of red and brown.
I also used a peel off bell to mount onto white card and used red and gold pens to colour this.
I also added some small gold stars, and a merry Christmas peel off sentiment, which I coloured in using a red permanent pen to complete the embellishments.
I used padded D.S. tape to attach them in place on the card front. The insert also has a Merry Christmas peel off and a free verse from the friends’ list, written by Janyce Cotterill, and a blank white section for the personal greeting.
This card has made a wonderful mixture of unique, individual and vintage look to the completed project.
As we have moved away from so many long life friends with whom I use Christmas cards to keep in touch, I am able to make this many more times.
I can see that using different shades of thread and embellishments, it is definitely a most useful and versatile design.
