This is a stitching design by Emy van Schaik, which definitely suits the Christmas theme. And as an added bonus to the card maker is quick and very easy to complete.
I copied the design onto a white light weight card I had cut at 17 x 14cm and later trimmed it to measure 16.5 x 13.5cm, to make the envelope size a little more postal delivery acceptable.
I have used a very fine gold thread doubled for all the stitching and this has ensured the stitching has a bold appearance.
I used a red polyester thread for all the beads and spacers. I completed the stitching before attaching the beads.
The beads I have used are 11 green glass tube beads, 17 red tiny round metallic beads, 8 tiny red glass seed beads on the ends of some of the green tube beads, and one tiny red glass seed bead on top of each of the larger red glass seed beads on each of the 8 spacers.
In total I have used 52 beads and 8 gold spacers. I have used a gold chain look peel off to hold the lantern I have used as the focal point of the finished card.
This is an image from the design by Gitte Kristiansen, cup884300_1970, Christmas Light, which I have attached using padded D.S. tape.
I have added a red Merry Christmas peel off sentiment and some gold glitter stars and a gold glitter reindeer, and then defined the edges with a gold metallic pen before attaching it to a linen textured Christmas stripe backing sheet cut at 17.5 x 14.5cm.
This linen textured striped card has 2 lengths of red and gold edged ribbon horizontally across the front and then attached firmly at the back using D.S. tape This finished size was too large to suit the green card I wanted to use so I devised a fold for one sheet of green firm card which originally measured 29.5 x 21cm.
I cut this sheet to then measure 29.5 x 18.5cm.
To make the main card, I used a ruler and a scorer to make a mountain fold at 6cm in from the left and then a valley fold at 14.25 in from the left, which leaves the last section to measure 15.25 cm.
I then used cup84313_79993, Christmas lace Effect in a pale green tone and slightly enlarged to cover the insert page and the back of the completed topper.
I made sure the 2 folds were firm before using D.S. tape on the 6cm narrow green card front, and while the card was in the closed position, attached the topper matching it on all sides to the folded card.
I have added red peel off strips to all visible edges before attaching the bow I have made from the same red ribbon.
The insert exposes the red peel offs, the pale green Christmas lace effect background and the green card.
I have used a verse from the free Christmas list to attach to the right hand side and added 2 gold glitter peel offs.
I am extremely happy with the outcome of this project, so thank you Emy, I am sending you a virtual hug.
