Ed083 White Snowflake
Stitching with beads

This delightful, Snowflake design by Emy van Schaik is very quick to onto light card, to achieve the copy, to use as the stitching guide and presents a challenge for those who like to make cards in this format and enjoy the technique and the point of difference as the result.
I have printed this shade of blue onto 17-gsm card cut at 13cm square. The stitching of the central part of the design, I completed using single threaded metallic silver and the outer section individual diamond shaped sections are stitched using single threaded metallic glitter silver.
I have used a total of 84 beads including the beads in the insert. To complete the beading, I have used blue glitter metallic thread doubled. The 12 diamond shapes each have clear glass, 1cm, 3 gem embossed beads, stitched into the centre.
To the inner more decorative circle I have attached an alternating group of a pearl swirl textured rice bead each with a tiny round pearl and in between I have attached the same 1cm glass 3g4em embossed bead each with a silver metallic round bead.
I have secured the stitching at the back using red power tape and attached this topper to silver foil 200gsm card cut at 14cm square and used red power tape to attach this to the 15cm white 200gsm card front.
I have used a blue metallic permanent pen to define the edges of the silver backing sheet and to colour the sentiment.
I attached the sentiment onto silver foil card and attached this along with the silver bow and used decorative silver peel off corners, fine lines and snowflakes as embellishments.
To complete the insert page, I have used 170gsm white A4 card to cut down to fit and printed the verse I have chosen.
I have used the same design to copy the central section only, onto 255 gsm premium gloss 10cm square white card, and stitched this using blue glitter thread and attached 24 tiny glass blue seed beads and used the blue metallic pen to define the edges before attaching this to the left side of the insert.
I have added the peel off decorative, corners and hanging baubles. This project has resulted in a stunningly beautiful Christmas greeting card for a very deserving friend.
Thank You Emy, I really enjoyed this challenge and now plan to make two Halloween cards using this central design as the black spider web on an orange card for one and reverse this and use an orange web, on a black card, now that I have worked how to sew this accurately.
I will post these on the site before the end of the month. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
