The Yin Yan design has a very special meaning to many people, and I have a daughter who will value the effort I went to make this card just to say I am thinking about her, while she is far from home.
I followed the instructions on the sheet provided and although it took some time to work out the colours and the correct number of beads, I have made a list to help the next purchaser of this amazing design.
I began with a 13cm square white 120gsm card and following the instructions pricked the design. This size I have made means the use of small beads. I completed all the stitching before I stitched any beads into position.
The dark blue thread and the aqua thread, are both polyester and I have used single threads in the stitching. the beads I have used are 38 matching tiny royal blue seed beads, and 2 tiny tube beads in the same colour.
I used 4 pearl pale aqua rice beads and one darker aqua textured rice bead.
I used 4 silver floral shaped spacers, two of these have a glass pale aqua faceted round bead attached and 2 of them have alternate shades of aqua and royal blue kite shaped tiny faceted beads each with a contrasting seed bead attached.
The 2 circular shapes around these 2 spacers each have 8 larger royal blue seed beads stitched around the outside as the pattern indicates.
To complete the card I edged this completed stitched topper with a royal blue marker and the same to the aqua blue 14cm square backing sheet.
The royal blue 1cm wide ribbon is attached to the back of the topper before the topper is then attached to the aqua backing sheet and then onto the 15cm square card front all using D.S. tape.
I made a simple rabbits' ears bow and used red power tape to attach this to the left hand front of the card.
I am delighted with the result, and I know my daughter will post it on line. Thank you Emy. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
