Ed135 Christmas Mandala
Stitching with beads
Photographs from the Community
I have just completed this beautiful design, Christmas Mandala, and isn’t it amazing to see how the combination and placement of the different shades and colours bring a mandala to life?
Here I used the guide of the Christmas theme and used all polyester threads for both the stitching and for attaching the beads.
The colours I have used are bright red, a dark leaf green and a very bright yellow. I followed the stitching guide instructions and completed all the stitching before attempting to attach the beads.
I used 16 green medium sized glass seed beads for the outer line around the mandala, which means they then sit in between each of the red stitched fan shapes.
At the lower point of these red fan shapes I attached the 16 tiny red metallic round beads. I used 16 of these same red tiny round beads to attach at the lower point of the yellow fan shapes.
I then attached the 4 gold metallic 0.5cm rice beads in place. The last group of beads I stitched in place are the 4 groups of 3 red 0.5cm red metallic rice beads, each with a tiny green glass seed bead attached and these all sit together at the centre of the mandala.
I then attached the floral bead spacer and the 0.5mm round metallic gold bead. In total I have used 16 green glass medium sized beads, 32 tiny round red metallic beads, 4 gold 0.5mm metallic rice beads, 12 red metallic 0.5mm rice beads, 12 small green glass seed beads and one 0.5 round gold metallic bead.
I also have used a silver floral spacer.
This is a total of 81 beads and one spacer. The white card measures 13 cm square and I have attached the red ribbon at the back of the stitched card vertically on the centre line.
The gold foil card is attached using D.S. tape and measures 14cm square.
The main card is a leather look finished black card which measures 29 x 16cm. I have added the bow and some stars and edged the main image with a gold pen. I have used a peel off sentiment. I used the Christmas berries background sheet, cup804724_79993, designed by Clare walker on both the right hand and left hand side of the insert area.
I attached 3 gold peel off stars to some gold foil card and attached them and the verse which I had selected from the free verse section for Friends Christmas.
I love this design and really want to now make this design using silver metallic thread for all the stitching, and use the same combination of beads, all on a very dark blue background.
I will add it to this page when I have completed it. Pamela Horton.
