This Christmas Mandala design is so easy to complete as it comes with accurate markings and written guides to follow for the stitching and the beading.
I have used gold glitter sequins instead of the bead spacers, and have used gold glitter metallic thread double to attach all the beads and sequins, and in single thread to stitch the 8 groups of 4 tiny stars, The central 8 point star and the large inner circle.
I have use red polyester for the hoop shapes around the tiny stars, and green polyester for the larger outer circle.
I copied the design onto a 14.5 x 14cm, 120gsm white card and completed all the stitching before attaching the beads.
In the centre of the star I have attached a sequin, a 4mm round metallic gold bead and a tiny gold glass seed bead.
To each of the points of the central gold stitched star I have attached a red 6mm red metallic rice bead and a tiny gold glass bead.
The next beads I have attached are the 8 beads marked to sit in between the stitched hoops and I have used 6mm gold metallic rice beads and a tiny red glass seed bead.
The 25 sets of sequin and 2mm long seed glass beads which are a feature between the 2 large circles, I have alternated the mix to be 1 sequin, 1green2mm glass seed bead and 1 tiny green seed bead , and the next mix to be 1 sequin, 1 red 2mm glass seed bead and 1 tiny red seed bead.
I ended up 2 of the same mix together in the lower left hand corner. However it is not very noticeable and the over- all effect is what I working to achieve.
The 110 beads I have used to complete this project, includes, 1 round gold 4mm metallic bead, 26 gold glitter sequins, 20 tiny red glass seed beads, 13 tiny green glass seed beads, 9 tiny gold glass seed beads, 8 red 4mm metallic rice beads, 8 gold 4mm metallic rice beads, 13 green glass 2mm seed beads, and 12 red 4mm glass seed beads.
I cut a piece of 13.5 x 13 square white copy paper to attach to the back of the stitched and beaded topper to secure the stitching using red power tape before attaching the 15.5x 15cm gold foil backing sheet, and the 16.5 x 16cm Christmas tree and star print to the back using D.S tape.
The main card is ivory and cut a 35 cm x 17.5cm and scored and folded before I attached the completed topper using D.S. tape.
I completed the inside with the chosen free verse attached to the lower half of the same Christmas print before adding the gold dust glitter effects to the central star area the inner large circle.
I then added the gold peel offs and peel off stars as extra embellishments. This design is such a delight to work and can be completed in a very short time once all the card, backing sheets, beads and embellishments are available.
Thank you Emy, this card is sent in the post today to my youngest daughter who will be on her own this Christmas, and I know she will absolutely love and keep this card.
And next Christmas I will be ready with many more of this design well before posting time. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus
