I have used cup812715-923, French Writings Perfume Bottles, as the backing sheet for this stitching pattern.
It is printed with a lighter contrast on to 170gsm white satin finished card at full size and to leave a very fine 1mm white edge, thus keeping the decorative frame and then edged this edge with a pale mauve permanent pen.
I have copied the stitching design onto the top third of the backing sheet. I have used single thread white embroidery floss, sky blue embroidery floss, and mauve embroidery floss for the stitching.
I completed the stitching before attaching the 29 small round pearls, the 8 clear luminescent round glass beads and the 8 tiny blue seed beads.
I was unable to purchase suitable rice beads so I have used 18 groups of 3 mauve pearl finished 2mm seed beads into the positions indicated for the longer beads and for the 8 mauve stars around the outer edge I have attached, into the centre of each star, a tiny blue seed bead into the centre, All the beads are attached using a double thread of matching embroidery floss.
I have used a total of 107 beads. I secured the stitching and beading at the back using a 13.5x19cm backing sheet. I attached this completed topper to the front of the 21x15 deep mauve card front using padded double sided tape.
I prepared this card by printing the mauve shade onto both sides of 180gsm white satin finished card. I used the decoupage supplied with the main backing sheet and a mauve ribbon to complete the card front embellishments.
To complete the insert I have used pale pink paper cut and folded to fit and attached a small image of the card front onto the left hand side and a verse I have chosen from the free verse section by Janyce Cotterill, onto the right hand side and added some decoupage pieces and some pink peel off strips and corners to complete the embellishments.
I am so thrilled with the result. It is a design to suit almost all female occasion, but also very suitable for sympathy as a topper. Thank you Emy for the challenges you send our way. Pamela Horton. The Whispering Platypus.
