Beautiful Blue Anemonie TopperCompleted by Pamela Horton The whispering Platypus

This mixed blue, lace and scalloped edged floral design, by Ceredwyn, is such a universal topper for a female, easter or Sympathy card, it is a must for me to purchase.

I have made 2 cards with this design. The first is a birthday greeting and measures 29.55x15cm.

The main card is cut from an A4 blue matte, 200gsm card, then scored and folded before attaching the one shade paler blue14cm square and the white 13.5cm square backing sheets using D.S. tape to the folded card front.

I printed the sheet provided twice onto the one A4 sheet of 170gsm white satin finished card. I cut out one main image and all the smaller elements belonging to that image. I used 4x11cm paper lace doilies to cut in half and layer them behind the blue scalloped edge.

I used D.S tape to secure this group onto the card front. I used the second copy to carefully remove the very central circular image, while retaining and setting aside the frame intact and attached this circular main image to the topper using padded D.S. tape.

I attached the smaller elements in place to complete the decoupage using padded D.S. tape cut to size. I attached the blue bow, the 4 ornamental pearls, three butterflies and the sentiment. I redrew the feelers, attached the decorative silver peel off strip and added Crystal Glitter gel to the butterflies and the white doily edges.

To complete the insert, I have used the retained outer section of the lace and blue edged frame to use as a frame for the inset verse I have chosen.

I have made a template of this insert for further use. The second card stands as an easel card. This is an A4, sky blue, 200gsm card scored and folded to measure 28 x14cm. I printed the sheet provided twice, as before and cut out the elements I needed.

This card is for interstate postage, so I have not used the decoupage technique. I attached the main image onto a 12cm square blue backing sheet, then onto a white13cm square backing sheet which has the edges defined using a blue metallic permanent pen.

I secured the white organza ribbon tails at the back of the white backing sheet.

I made a simple knot with a short length of the same ribbon and attached the tied bow, again using the same ribbon.

I used 2 of the sentiments and attached 2 of the butterflies to one of the sentiments. I have used a similar technique for the insert. Using the elements as before but changing the view to be in the portrait position.
