Christmas Vintage

Presents great or presents small,
Over the years we've seen them all,
Spinning tops and wooden toys,
Have gone by the way for girls and boys
Now it's laptops, computers, iphones and stuff,
No longer is an orange in the stocking enough,
So times have changed,
But we remember still,
The years that have gone,
We always will,
But the love in our hears will always shine through,
May Christmas and it's meaning,
Always stay true.

Spinning tops and rocking horses
Toys from years gone by
When woolly stockings were carefully hung
By an open fire
Piano playing, bells were ringing
As families gathered round
To sing their favourite Christmas songs
As snow was falling down
Yes, times have changed since way back then
But hearts have stayed the same
May the joy and peace that Christmas brings
Forever with you remain

Can you sleep on Christmas Eve?
No matter how grown up do you still believe?
Does that tiny child in you get excited still?
As you snuggle up and remember that thrill,
You were sure you could hear the sleigh bells ring,
Thinking in wonder of what Santa might bring,
Seeing the crumbs on the tiny plate,
The mince pie gone,
Left over carrot Rudolph ate,
Then the presents seen piled high on the chair,
He's been - he's been - there's magic in the air,
It was an enchanting time that we'll never forget,
And now for all children this will be the best Christmas yet.

Excitement mounts for girls and boys,
As they long to play with all their toys,
As they see their homes festooned with lights,
Making the landscape merry and bright,
May the excitement stay within us all,
As we remember the Christmas times
when we were small.

Christmas comes but once a year
a time of joy and laughter
May all good wishes come your way
For now and ever after.

The Snow does fall this winter time
All smooth & crisp & even
The church does hold our Christmas joy
For the birth of baby Jesus.
