A Bracelet made from Macram Cord with a Magnetic Clasp

This braided bracelet is made from thick neon-coloured macram cord. A two-part magnetic clasp is glued onto each end for fastening.

1

Cut two pieces of cord measuring 1m and two pieces of cord measuring 30cm. Secure the four pieces of macram cord on the macram board, making sure that the two short pieces are in the middle.

2

Make braiding knots following the instructions shown here. Braid knots on the two short middle cords, using the long cords; one on each side.

3

Continue braiding until the desired length of the bracelet is reached.

4

Cut off the ends so they measure 3cm. Expose the white cord from the neon-coloured polyester of the macram cord. Cut off the white core. Repeat this procedure on all cord ends (eight in total).

5

Trim the neon-coloured "bundle" of polyester cord so it measures 1.5cm. Melt the bundles ends with a lighter. Immediately squeeze the bundle flat using flat nose pliers – repeat this procedure at the other end of the bracelet.

6

Fill both parts of the two-part magnetic clasp with glue and push the flat ends of the bracelet inside each part of the magnetic clasp. Leave to dry for approx. 3 hours.
