A Braided Friendship Bracelet, Candy Stripe

This stripy friendship bracelet is braided using the Candy Stripe method which consists of lots of small knots. You may vary the colours and the patterns at will.

Cut three pieces of Cotton Lace, each measuring approx. 3m. Double over and tie a knot at the top, leaving a loop.

Attach the laces; i.e. the loop at the top of the laces to a clip board and spread out the laces.

Place the other right lace over the lace next to it, feed it underneath the loop and pull.

Tie another knot and pull.

Place the outer left lace over the lace next to it, feed it underneath the loop and pull. Tie two knots following the described procedure.

Continue like this until two knots are made on all the laces.

Repeat with the outer right lace moving towards the left, tie two knots etc.

Tie two knots to the two outer cords on the right and on the left side, creating a fairly straight edge in both sides.

Arrange the laces in pairs and plait.

Bend over the finished plait and tie a knot, creating a loop.

Glue the end safely in place. This loop becomes part of the bracelet's fastener.

Cut off the excess laces.

At the other end tie a couple of knots on top of each other. Together they form the knot (button) to be used for fastening the bracelet in the loop at the other end.
