Quilling with Recycling Paper

These Christmas hanging decorations (a heart and a star) are made inside shape cutters using the quilling technique and recycled strips of Vivi Gade Design paper. Attach a piece of flax twine with threaded-on beads to the hanging decorations.

1

Fold the paper strip lengthwise in the middle. Unfold again and now fold each side (lengthwise) toward the center of the folding line created after the first folding.

2

Use a quilling board for keeping the shape of the rolled up paper strips. Apply glue to each paper strip prior to rolling it and placing it in the quilling board where it keeps its shape.

3

How to make an original Christmas decoration: fold a long strip of paper as described in paragraph 1 and place it in a shape cutter. Cut off the excess paper. Now apply glue to all the finished quilling rolls which are now placed side by side in the shape cutter.

4

When the glue is dry, remove the Christmas decoration from the shape cutter and apply another coat of glue for extra stability. Let it dry.
