Colourful jewellery with a light and airy look like dots in the air. The jewellery is made from neon coloured macram cord with Hama beads in various colours which have been melted onto the cord by using a hot iron.
A bracelet with a magnetic clasp: Cut at least ten pieces of neon coloured macram cord, each measuring 25cm. Bundle these together and assemble at one end with sellotape.
Trim the macram cords at the assembly end and glue these trimmed ends in place inside one part of the two-part magnetic clasp using Super Attak instant glue.
Set the iron on maximum heat and place two pieces of baking paper onto a firm surface. Place a bead upright between the two pieces of baking paper. Press the hot iron on the bead (with one piece of baking paper between the iron and the bead), until it melts and becomes flat.
Place two flat beads between two pieces of baking paper on either side of the cord. Use a hot iron to fuse the beads and the cord together – first from one side and then from the other.
Spread out the cords and continue the process of ironing the flat beads in pairs around all the cords.
When all the melted beads are ironed onto the cords, assemble the loose cord ends with cellotape. Trim and glue the assembly in place inside the other part of the two-part magnetic clasp.
A long necklace: melt the beads and attach them using the same procedure as the bracelet. Cut a piece of macram cord at a desired length.
As an alternative to a magnetic clasp, fasten the necklace by putting both cord ends through a bead. Use a hot iron to fuse the melted bead onto the cord. Trim.
