The candle holders are decorated with a glued-on waistband of straw silk paper with a pattern of holes, made with a screw punch. Use the same procedure on the straw silk paper when making cone-shaped egg warmers.
Waistband for the candle holder: Roll a piece of straw silk paper around the glass for measuring the circumference. Mark with a pencil and cut to size, except for the height which must be torn off. See the next step below.
Tear off the edge vertically using both thumbs and index fingers on either side of the pencil mark. Erase any left over pencil marks.
Use a screw punch for making a holed pattern all over the straw silk paper.
Apply decoupage lacquer for glass and porcelain on one side of the holed straw silk paper.
Attach the straw silk paper to the candle holder – one small area at a time. Carefully smooth out with a dry and clean brush. For a harder surface, bake the decorated candle holder in a household oven for 30 min. at 150-160 C.
Egg warmers: Print and cut out the template, available as a separate PDF file for this idea. Draw onto straw silk paper. Tear off the edges vertically using both thumbs and index fingers on either side of the pencil mark. Erase any left over pencil marks.
Use a screw punch for making a holed pattern all over the straw silk paper.
Sew the piece of straw silk paper together on the sewing machine using white thread, forming a cone. Decorate with a white feather at the top of the cone.
