Fancy Spiral Flowers
Photographs from the Community
For this card I chose one of the smaller and one of the larger style spiral flowers and cut them several times out of golden irridescent vellum using my Cameo. I made a base card out of purple satin card by cutting out cup281763_1415. I took two other sheets of irridescent vellum from the same pack, one slightly darker than the one I'd used to cut the flowers out of, and the other lighter. A piece of the darker one was cut to fit just inside the cut edge of the base card so that the cut design showed up, another piece was cut with a wavy edge and stuck as a mat on the card front. The ligher one was trimmed as a matt 1cm in all directions smaller than the first mat. 1 stuck these down using a roller glue, being careful to apply the glue in the centre where I knew I'd be putting the decoration over the top. I shaped the edges of the petals for the larger flowers and wound them up to give the flower shapes, sticking them to hold their shape. Slightly different tightness of winding gives a slightly different look to each flower, which is good as all flowers are not identical in nature. I used a quilling tool to help me wind up the smaller flowers and then glued them as well. I had two sizes of purple paper flowers of the same style in my crafty stash, so I built up my card front by putting a small vellum flower in each corner of the mats and then stuck the vellum roses and paper flowers to the front using glue ge.
A nice assortment of sprial flower shapes that will give slightly different flowers when made up. I think they'd look nice made up with "duo" lightweight cardstock where one side is coloured a paler version of the other, as well as in other media.
