3D Nativity Barn with rear access flap to add battery powered lightingCompleted by Glenys Linehan

Uploaded the file to Design Space and although there are no instructions it is quite simple to follow, however I am having a problem with my internet not being fast enough so I decided to do a 'dummy run' first (additional photo 2) before making the one I wanted.

Remember to ungroup and then go to each element and attach the what should be score lines and change them from cut to score which does take a while but the end result is worth it.

For the dummy run I cut out on thin white card (170 gsm) and then assembled. I then regrouped the elements and enlarged them and then changed the colours of the mats to the colours I wanted.

All elements were cut out on 270 gsm cardstock except for the back where the light comes through which I cut from velum although you could use coloured acetate.

The plinth I cut using dark brown, the base from dark grey, the stable from off white, the roof sections from mid brown and the top covers from a straw colour as I thought that this would be thatched.

The figures I cut out twice, once in black and once in white. I assembled the plinth first by folding on the score lines and then attatching together with glue although you could use dst.

I assembled the stable next and attached to the base before attaching to the plinth.

Before putting the roof sections on put the backdrop in place after checking that the light will fit in behind.

From the white cut out figues I cut the figures and the crib out and glued these to the black and then coloured them in and also covered the black star with silver glitter glue.

I then attached this to the inside of the stable in front of the back drop leaving a small gap.

I highlighted some of the stars above the stable with silver glitter glue. I then made up the roof sections and attached these to the roof of the stable before covering with the straw coloured roof pieces.

I then attached the angels which I had cut out from silver glitter card using glue. Finally I attached the figures of the wise men and shepard which were cut out in black cardstock using foam pads.

I decided to glue the 2 white sheep over the top of the black to give a bit more interest.

I inserted the light into the back and used 2 brads to hold the back door in place when it was closed.

Main photo shows the finished project with the lighting turned on. Additional photo 1 shows the project with the lighting off.
