So Glad To Be Back!

Nearly 2 years ago, my husband had a devastating stroke, and my world, as I knew it crumbled into a blur of ambulance sirens, doctors, grim prognosis, hospital visits, rehabilitation, and a man that had to fight with his body to do every little thing that was always taken for granted.

Before his stroke, I had vaguely remembered a thing that circulated on Facebook. It was how to recognise a stroke. I must have tucked it away in the back of my brain and filed it with all the other stuff that circulates.

I am so glad I did... it was because of that article, that instantly came back into my mind, I was able to recognise exactly what was happening and was able to tell the emergency operator.

Because of that information, a specialist ambulance was there within a couple of minutes and Hubby was on his way to a specialist stroke unit over 100 kilometres away.

If I can stress on anyone.... please learn the signs of stroke.

FAST = The acronym stands for Facial drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties and Time to call emergency services. The photo is of Hubby in the rehab unit... he was allowed visits by his best friend.... who was often kidnapped by the nurses and shared around the other patients.

She was very spoiled during her visits.

Our fight is not over, but it has taken all this time to finally be able to think about doing things that I used to love doing... and of course the main thing is Card Designing.

Please remember ....FAST

Guess Who's Coming For Dinner

Wild life in Australia is not as exotic as it is in some countries, but many of our creatures are indeed unique.

Many have pouches and carry their babies for quite a while before setting them free to survive on their own. Where I live, we are lucky enough to have Kangaroos, Wallabies, Koalas, Goannas, Blue Tongue Lizards, Eastern Rosellas, Mountain Lowries, kookaburra's white and black cockatoos and gallahs.... oh not to mention the nasties as well... brown snake (one of the most venemous in the world) and the milder red belly black snake.

We won't talk about the spiders! One of my favourite moments in time, is taking a cup of tea out onto the patio on a mild summer morning and watch the kangaroos and their joeys foraging around for a little green pick on the hills below us while the koodaburras laugh on their perches, and the black cockatoos fly high above, screeching, usually a warning of rain coming. I was so thrilled to have a colony of koalas living in a paddock out the back of our house...

They are very particular where they choose to settle, and only feed of one specific gum tree... so you can immagine how honoured we felt to have just the right spot for them to call home.

Unfortunately, with progress, comes big machines like bulldozers and such... to build a transmission tower. The koalas disappeared. I hadn't seen them for such a long time.

Then a few days ago, what I thought was a cat walking past the window, caught my eye.... except it wasnt a cat, it was a Koala.. they were back. So hiking boots on, off I went in search .... and there they were.

In their trees, no longer threatened by big machines. Welcome home little ones... we missed you! I hope you like my wildlife inspired quick cards. Quick Card Toppers with a 3D appearance.
