Stone the Gnomes by Janice McFarlane

As well as embarking on a folk art painting course this year, I decided to also have a go at rock painting too. I purchase some large pebbles and the first one I picked up reminded me of a gnome shape, so thats what I went with. Never having done this before I just went with my instinct by drawing a basic outline and base coating it with white acrylic before drawing in some details and then filling in with colored acrylic. For my first go I was quite pleased so I hope to do some more, and maybe trying some animals too.

Socks by Patricia Platt

I learned to knit socks over the past couple of years. I did start doing one at a time and have progressed to doing two at a time now. The first pair didnt come out the same size. They do now. I was at dialysis and was doing my sock knitting working on a pair for my late husband and one of the patients commented he would like a pair. And then it progressed and the nurses said the same. So After finishing the pair for my husband I got to work on the pair for the patient and then the nurses. I thought knitting some for the nurses is a way I can pay them back in a small way for them looking after me and the others. I have a book that I have shoe sizes in and when I finish a pair I start another pair. I have made for 6 pairs so far and almost finished the 7th. I have loads more to do yet. But seems I will be on dialysis for the rest of my life. So will keep me busy knitting.

These are two of my latest designs. I really enjoy designing cards and kits.

Snow .... by Carol Clarke

Snow ....Snow!!! Today we woke up to a Winter Wonderland! It looks so pretty but we know from past experience it can be extremely hazardous underfoot! Soooo weve stayed in the warmth inside and looked at it through the windows instead! We have fields at the bottom of the garden and so were able to see the local children having snowball fights and sledging just as our children did many years ago. Weve also had lots of feathered friends in our garden, crab apple tree and on our feeders including - sparrows, great tits, blue tits, long tailed tits, blackbirds, wood pigeons, field fares, linnet, chaffinch, collared dove, gold finch, stock dove and a Great Spotted Woodpecker!! The sun is out now but its going to be -5 tonight so we may be staying indoors again tomorrow too! lol

Blood Sun by Vicki Avcin

On 1st March, there were some huge fires happening to the north west of us out at Miles. Miles is about 340 kilometres from here and the fires had been burning for nearly two weeks. Crews from all over Queensland were out on deployment fighting these fires but the skies let us know just how big and fierce they were. Every evening we had these blood red sunsets caused by the smoke in the air being blown eastward. It really did make for some spectacular sunsets. The fires caused Leave Now warnings several times as they raced towards homes as it travelled through the country side. Fortunately they are all out now but sadly several homes and sheds were lost. The country out there is mostly unpopulated on the big properties so in that respect it was good that it wasnt more heavily populated and is mainly grazing properties.

Post Box Topper by Sue Way

We walk past this post box most days on our afternoon dog walk and I love seeing all the different toppers the lady makes for it. Over the years I have seen jubilee, lifeboats, nativity, and many more. She even did one for all the dog owners that walk by. Today I spotted this gorgeous Easter one with all the cute bunnies so had to take a picture. I cant wait to see what she creates for the Kings Coronation. I will try to get a picture of it to show you.
