Mothers Day Peony by Judith Henry

Every year my firm peony blues on Mothers Day. This year it was very pretty. The secret is to use a tomato cage to support the long stems. This holds the plant together. I have a traditional peony that I use this same method. It should bloom by Memorial Day. Its blooms are much more impressive with its double full bloom..

Exciting times ahead by Vicki Avcin

Well Im planning well ahead for my Thredbo trip in the first week of August. My daughter (and son) are paying for me to have 3 days in the snow and being Ive never seen snow before, I had to get clothing suitable for the conditions. I was given a gift card for Mothers Day by my son and his wife so guess what it straight on! According to my daughter I now have what I need with my purchases and the big jacket she brought for me last year for my birthday. I feel the cold terribly so I am a little worried but I think the excitement of it all will get the adrenalin pumping and rugging up in my new gear plus thermals and the fleecy lined leggings I purchased hopefully I wont notice the cold. This trip is my 70th Birthday present from the kids. I am so excited about this trip because the first part will be really special before we head off to the snow. The week we will be there they say is the best week for snow due to yearly weather patterns so should be plenty of snow. Cant wait!

This weeks designs are designed for a male, a birthday card and four bookmarks.

Dedicated Follower of Fashion by Janice McFarlane

My grandson Harry will be 6 next week on the 30th May. Due to the family going on holiday for half term he had his birthday party last Sunday. The day before he was deciding what to wear and it had to be just right. This is the child who for Christmas asked for a full length mirror for his bedroom. So after much thought this is what he came up with. Polo shirt, Shorts and football socks, which were at least colour co-ordinated lol. Not only that he then decided to choose what the rest of the family should wear. When his mum asked him if this was really neccessary his reply was Its my party and Ill decide if I want to. Hmmm! cue for a remix of a popular song from the 1960s I think. Its moments like these we savour, and perhaps he will start a new fashion trend.

Guess where i am by Amanda Assenbruck

In front of our new wood heater. We are set to get a cold blast from the South over the weekend. I havent looked to see just how cold, I dont want to know. I can tell you it is very cold in my study so not much designing going on but i have put out a few new Fathers Day kits. It is windy out but still not too cold, I think i will be out for my walk earlier today though.

My … by Carol Clarke

Youngest son was running again last weekend. This time he was competing in the County championships. It was a 2 day race meeting and he came away with 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal! These joined his rather large collection of medals, trophies and plaques! lol Whilst he was competing on the Sunday and his wife working we had a fabulous time with their children (our youngest grandchildren). Activities included crafting (they sooo love using my crafty stash!!) eating chocolate (they think its an Olympic event and regularly medal in this sport!) Bossing us around (another Olympic event they excell in!) We also got to play football in the garden - well that was till I managed to kick it over the fence into next doors garden ... and they were out at the time! Baking chocolate chip cookies with a trip to our local park whilst they cooled. They went home happy and in great spirits .... and we collapsed on the sofa! lol

Blooming Iris by Judith Henry

I planted Iris bulbs two years ago and today they began to bloom. Their fragrance are so sweet and the flowers delicate. These were from a friends garden. Im not sure if there is anything special that must be done to keep them blooming each year. Iris was one of the flowers that my mother had in her garden.

Close up! by Tina Fitch

I cant tell you how great In feels when you get this close whilst in flight. You can almost imagine yourself there in the cockpit with them while they just glide through the blue sky.. I sometimes just look and dream haha.I doubt Id pass the checks to fly with them as they are very stringent, due to having to be fit enough to take 6 Gs. Id be passed that now given my age lolOh well you can dream cant you? Yeah lets do that

A little holiday! by Sue Way

Last weekend we had three nights away on the Suffolk coast. We stayed in a privately owned caravan with lots of homely touches. Including blankets and throws for the dogs. Of course our Golden Retrievers Billy and Sam loved it, as we went on lots of beach walks, and met some really friendly people and dogs. Sam made it his mission to meet and greet every one of them! We came home full up with takeaways and ice cream and feeling very relaxed.
