Extreme Day Out by Janice McFarlane

When Alfie turned 11 back in March a couple of his birthday presents were special days to try a couple of things he wouldnt do as the norm. One was a skydiving experience which he hasnt done yet, the other was snowboarding. His snowboarding experience was last Saturday at the Milton Keynes ski centre. It was a 6 hour session with lunch included. Alfie loves to skateboard and receives tracing for that, so he was very excited to do this. He started off a bit wobbly as going down on snow was a different experience but quickly got the hang of it and thoroughly enjoyed his day on the slopes.

My Champ by Vicki Avcin

My daughter hasnt done any fighting for about 10 years now but I am still so proud of her accomplishments and this week saw me reminiscing when she had a clean out of things she had stored in her brothers shed. One of the items was a trophy from one of her fights which she was going to throw out. Some of the others she gave to her nephew who is following in her footsteps doing Tae kwon do. The majority of her trophies she has left with her dojo and are on permanent display there. She held Australian titles in 3 different types of martial arts but her main win records are in Muay Tai. Some of her other accomplishments are holding a Committed Fighter award, Silver Na Khanom Tom Award, Gold Kai, Up & Coming Combat Athlete of the Year (2006 & 2007), Probationary 2nd Degree NI-DAN-HO,KRU Assistant Trainer,2nd Khan, as well as being a black belt. These days she does train but for fun and fitness. Anyway I couldnt let her throw away the big trophy so it is now safe with me.

Birthday .... by Carol Clarke

...Parties have sooo changed since I (and my children!) was a child!! Instead of Party hats, Jelly, Ice cream, home made sandwiches and cakes, with blind mans buff, pass the parcel, and blowing out the candles as the highlight of the party .... they now go to indoor soft adventure playgrounds, or ice skating, or swimming, or ... a new one to me ... horse riding parties!! My youngest granddaughter, Olivia, was invited to her friends horse riding birthday party this week! Shed never been on a horse before, and she loved it!! Whoopsy ... I forsee an expensive time looming on the horizon for my son and daughter-in-law! lol

A Lovely Day with the Family! by Sue Way

Last Saturday our son and daughter-in-law brought our youngest granddaughter Daisy, who is three, to visit. Its the first time she has been to our house as she gets very car sick, so we usually visit them, so they came on the train. Our daughter and son-in-law also came with our other two granddaughters and I was so happy to finally have all my grandchildren at my house together. After some lunch, we showed Daisy how close we lived to the beach. As soon as she could, she was off onto the sand with her cousins. We did all the seaside things. Paddling in the sea, eating ice cream, going on the rides on the pier, eating chips! At one point Daisy thought it was so funny when we all piled our hats onto her head. Then it was hubbys turn and Imogen also had a go. We had such a lovely day and we all agreed to do it again very soon.
