Tips For Choosing Sympathy Card

Imagery by Melissa Slate

Sending a sympathy or condolence card can be sad and unpleasant. Your choice of card imagery can express condolences as much as words and provide surprising benefits for the recipient.Scenic cards can help the recipient handle anger, fear, anxiety, and stress, and lower the risk of depression. Research suggests viewing a scenic view for 40 seconds is enough to trigger a more relaxed state within the brain.Natural elements have the power to restore, soothe, heal, and increase our feelings of connectedness. Nature images increase pleasant feelings as well as enhancing mental clarity and focus and reducing intrusive thoughts helping the mind to relax, refocus, and be restored.Waterscapes, natural landscapes, flowers, sunrises, and gardens, as well as positive figurative art, have the most powerful effects and are most liked when they have a depth perspective and an element of mystery. On the other hand, abstract or ambiguous images or emotionally challenging subject matter can summon dislike or other clearly negative reactions. Avoid triggers. Floral cards can be triggering if the recipient had to view numerous floral tributes at the funeral. Cards that remind the recipient of the circumstances of the loved ones passing such as mountain scenes would not be suitable for someone whose loved one passed in a mountain climbing accident. Choose a card with the recipients style in mind rather than your own. Following these tips will help you to choose card imagery that is not only meaningful but helpful as well.

Give the recipient the benefits of a personalized scenic message. Our ocean and river scene cards are blank and ready for you to add your own sympathy or condolence text.

Bag Lady by Janice McFarlane

Since being a teenager I have loved handbags of all shapes and sizes as well as purses. I remember loving a particular purse my grandmother had I thought it was so cool. One day she gave it to me and I remember using it for years. Over the years Ive had quite a collection and still do to a degree, but I am more limited with space. As an avid crocheter and also doing craft fairs I thought I would turn my hand to making some bags for adults and children as another product so I have been busy on an evening and have loved doing something different and learning new skills.

So Windy! by Sue Way

It often gets very windy here on the east coast. Even on hot sunny days, there is always a breeze on the beach. The last few weeks the weather has been awful, more like autumn than summer. Walking the dogs on the beach is hard work when the wind gets really bad. The sand whips around your legs and you are pushing against the force. But when its like that we are sure to see the windsurfers having a great time on the sea. I took this snap of a friend of ours doing what he loves best.
