A LONG SLOW JOURNEY by Wanda Lipski

There we were playing a word game in the garden when a very active snail dropped out of the tree above our heads and started slithering across the table and onto the dictionary. I admit to flipping the page to the one that included escargot before snapping this picture that inspired me to create these two cards especially for my husband. He needs a smile as we are one week into chemotherapy, although I admit to having to translate the text on the cards for him (lol). So that sums up life in the French countryside this summer, SLOWLY but SURELY.

My Latest Sewing Project by Sue Way

Last weekend I made my first tulip hat. I wasnt sure who I was making it for, I just had the pattern and wanted to give it a try. I also really wanted to use this lovely fat quarter set. I am so happy with how it turned out. Although when I tried it on I think it sticks up too high, but is a bit too snug to pull down. So it will probably go to one of my granddaughters. The older two might think they are a bit too cool to wear it, but I think three-year-old Daisy will love it. Whoever has it, I really enjoyed making it. On to the next project.

Off with Their Heads by Janice McFarlane

Last Monday my daughter and son in law had the privilege of going to the Ceremony of Keys at the Tower of London. This is a ceremony which takes place each evening at the close of the Tower. It is a ceremony which has been done for the last 700 years by the Yeoman of the Guard. Before the ceremony a talk was given by one of the Yeoman on the history of the tower, which most was quite macabre. A raffle was also held and my daughter won a limited edition print called the Yeomans Farewell on the passing of the Queen last year. On their way home by train my daughter found a seat nest to a very famous bear eating a marmalade sandwich at Paddington Station. It was certainly a memorable evening.

So sad its over. by Vicki Avcin

Well what an adventure Ive had last week. Met my birth mother who is 91 yrs old, met a half sister and met 8 cousins. Then we had two days at Thredbo. Thredbo is in the Kosciusko National Park and is one of the big snowfields in New South Wales. Sadly this year our snow fields are struggling as the snowfalls havent been happening. It was forecast to snow on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday but temperatures werent cold enough and on Friday night all they got was rain. The ski slope runs are maintained with snow machines but other areas are bare (grass) and in places what was there had melted and it was slushy mud. But my bucket list was to see snow which I did and I got to experience walking on and feeling it. We first went to Friday Flats when we arrived and I walked on snow for the first time in my life. So guess what is happening today…….its snowing down there, so we missed it falling by a week!!! Ill post more news about the trip in the next couple of weeks but Im already wanting to go back. I had a fantastic time and after the apprehension about freezing I was pleasantly surprised that it was nothing like I thought it would be. I commented to hubby that its actually colder at home than it was down there. Loved the atmosphere of the village and the people were so friendly. Im really missing it now.
