Update about my procedure by Patricia Platt

Hi all, I wanted to let you know, the procedure went well on my fistula. It did hurt a bit, but was soon over with. The surgeon stuck a wire into my vein and then a balloon and blew it up to expand my vein to nearer the surface. It is still deep, But the last week or so I have had really good sessions in Dialysis. :) When they go to put the needles in it doesnt even hurt now. :) I will soon be going through another procedure, to remove the chest line out of my heart. That was put in when I first needed dialysis. And I am looking forward to having it removed. If nothing else it means I can have a proper shower again. I have had the line in for over a year and a half now. They dont like to leave them in for too long as they are afraid of infections. If infections set in it is directly into the heart and could be fatal. So soon things will be going better for a bit. Although Dialysis does take up alot of time, I go 3 days a week for 4 hours. I enjoy looking at all the designs and cards that crafters make while sitting there. I sometimes take my small laptop with me and do a bit of designing. Though it doesnt have much memory so I am limited on what I can do.

I have been busy designing all sorts again. Lots of Christmas designs, and some new boxes, even wedding card designs. Thanks so very much for looking.

Bandanas! by Sue Way

A few weeks ago I was in my sewing room and on a whim decided to make bandanas for our two Golden Retrievers, Billy and Sam. I used some fabric that I had found in a charity shop. They are very quick and easy to make, and as they have a channel to fit the dog collar through, they are easy to put on them too. They were so proud of them and were happy to pose for a picture, especially as Daddy was holding a treat lol They got even more attention on their walk than ever.

Buds! by Amanda Assenbruck

It has been warming up here with only the odd minus degree. This is my wisteria getting ready (hopefully) to blossom. Until they open we never know if we will get flowers in any given year. Apparently when the first buds open if they are leaves rather than flowers the we wont get flowers for that season. Heres hoping these buds are flowers as they are so lovely.

Some of my latest designs. One for the girls and there are other new designs in my Fathers Day range as well.

Beautiful Borders by Janice McFarlane

I thought I would take advantage of the rate bit of sunshine we have had lately and take some pictures of the beautiful borders we have in the communal garden area at the back of our retirement bungalow. When we first moved in the hedgerow out the back was bare. Not very nice to look at, but one of our lovely neighbours who happens to love gardening came along and gave the borders a makeover of lovely flowers and shrubs. He tends to them well and each year we have seen the borders flourish. It make having a little wander so much more worthwhile.

Huge Day! by Vicki Avcin

Day 3 of my trip was an absolute huge day. A day full of emotions, anticipation and happiness as I met new family for the first time. We left Muswellbrook early for the drive to Sydney. First stop was Hornsby where I met cousins, Susan and Robert. Susan and Roberts mum is my bio mums first cousin. My bio mum was their mothers bridesmaid. Unfortunately we didnt have as much time as wed like with them as we had to head off to the biggest event on the whole trip……meeting my bio mum for the first time. We arrived just at the end of lunch time and to say I was nervous is an understatement. I knew that my bio mum loved orchids (she had a big orchid house where she lived.) She is now in an aged care facility so next best thing was to take her some of her favourite flowers in her favourite colous. We also took her a teddy bear as she had a collection of bears when she was in her own home. Finally I got to meet her and after chatting I told her who I was. I am pretty sure she knew who I was already but I also think she was so relieved to meet me after keeping this huge secret for 70 years. The tears flowed and we both had hugs that have been a long time coming. We spent hours talking and crying, laughing and hugging. She was happy to meet her grandkids too. My head was spinning as we walked out with commitment to staying in touch now. What a relief too that the big secret is finally not a secret anymore. We then headed off to meet more cousins, bio mums brothers kids Julie, David and Linda. They welcomed us with open arms and again we talked and talked like wed known each other forever. Finally about 8.30pm we headed off to our motel (we had to check in before 9pm). What a huge day we had but what a wonderful day. A whole new family for me and my kids and to be so welcomed by all of them being that the bomb exploded a few months ago when the DNA came back. None of the cousins knew or even suspected a thing but are so happy now its all out there.
