Happy Gotcha Day Sam! by Sue Way

The other day was Sams Gotcha day. I cant believe it is two years since we bought our new puppy home. He still acts like a pup. he is such a funny little chap and is so loving. He had great fun playing on the beach with Billy. It was a lovely warm day the sea was so calm and clear. I was almost tempted to go in myself! Check out my new A5 Over The Edge cards for children. They are easy to make and include decoupage and matching insert.

Autumn is coming by Patricia Platt

Well the garden is about over with for this summer, though it barely seems like we even had a summer. I am going to try and do some fall gardening this year. And see if I can get a few things growing over winter. One year I did manage to do some Broad beans and had a lovely crop of them in the spring. However last year the harsh winter and snow killed them off so I only ended up with one bean plant that survived. I do grow onions and garlic over winter and they do really well. And I tend to grow potatoes all year here. Going to try some kale and Chinese greens to see what will do well this year over winter. I did buy a little pop up sort of mini cold frame/green house thing that I will put over one of my beds. Even though I may not produce alot in my little garden it is a nice variety and keeps me active.

Autumn is coming and so I thought Lionels Designs were lovely for these Anniversary cards. I used to love taking walks with my husband when the leaves were changing.

Could not be Prouder. by Janice McFarlane

Last week was GCSE exam results and my eldest granddaughter Darcey waited in worrying anticipation. Well, she need not have worried at all. She smashed it and obviously over the moon, as we were. Darcey has had to go through so much in her 16 years especially losing her dad (my son) who was only 28 when he died and she was barely 3. Also once her mum married again there were multiple heartaches for the family as her mum miscarried multiple times before successfully having another girl 10 years apart. She is one of the most polite, loving young ladies and her school spoke very highly of her at parents evenings. As she takes the next step to go on to college to study dance she is following in family footsteps and we couldnt be more thrilled for her.

Another big day. by Vicki Avcin

Day 4 of my big adventure saw us leaving Sydney and heading to our nations capital Canberra where we were staying the night before the drive to Thredbo. While there we were very much the tourist, visiting first off the War Memorial. I had learnt in my DNA experience that one of my uncles was killed in France and is buried in one of the cemeteries there. Therefore his name is on the memorial wall for those who never made it back to Australia. For a memorial it is an amazing place with lots of displays and dioramas depicting all the wars Australians have fought in. Planes, trucks, artillery, stories and so much more including the tomb of the unknown soldier. Then we headed off to The Royal Australian Mint where we got to see how our coins are made. Notes are printed elsewhere (Melbourne). We saw the history of our money, errors on coins which collectors like to get hold of. We laughed when told we could print our own $1 coin……. You just had to pay $3 to do it! We then headed off to Parliament House. How rude of our Prime Minister to not come and welcome us with tea and scones!! The security in the place is unreal. Not allowed to take phones or cameras in to either the Senate or House of Reps rooms where we saw some of our politicians sprooking their points of view. You also had to do a full screening on entry. We then headed to our motel for the night where they had this amazing piece of art in the courtyard. Three king parrots sitting on branches over a feeding bowl. They are so lifelike, something I told hubby would look fabulous in our front yard….. a future project?? The whole thing is made of metal. So lifelike that if you put your hand under the feet of the birds in a photo you would think the bird is the real thing.
